Candle Care
The very first burn is the most important. Soy wax has a memory - it will only melt as wide as it did on that first lighting. Always allow the melt pool to reach the edges of the vessel before extinguishing (usually 2-3 hours). This prevents tunnelling and ensures you get the full burn life from your candle.
For the best experience, always trim your wick to 5-6 mm before every single burn to ensure a clean, even flame with far less soot. Never burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time to prevent the wick from "mushrooming". Finally, always let the candle cool fully (at least 2 hours) before relighting.
Tunnelling happens when a candle is extinguished before the melt pool reaches the edges of the vessel - most often on the very first burn. If tunnelling has already started, loosely tent aluminium foil over the top of the candle with a small gap above the wick and burn for 2-3 hours. The reflected heat helps the surrounding wax melt back to an even level.
Not at all. Frosting is a completely natural characteristic of pure soy wax. It occurs as the wax re-crystallises over time and is a sign you’re burning a genuinely natural product. It has no effect on scent throw, burn performance, or quality. Think of it as nature’s own fingerprint on your handcrafted candle.
Use a candle snuffer or gently dip the wick into the melt pool with a wick dipper, then straighten it back up. This produces far less smoke than blowing it out and prevents hot wax from splashing. Never use water to extinguish a candle. Always confirm the flame is fully out before leaving the room.
Safety & Ingredients
We use 1natural, cosmetic-grade soy wax from sustainably grown soybeans. It is renewable, vegan, and completely free from paraffin, beeswax, and synthetic additives. Unlike paraffin (a petroleum by-product), our soy wax burns cleanly without releasing harmful toxins, making it a genuinely safer choice for you and your family.
We use premium fragrance oils and always recommend burning candles in well-ventilated spaces. However, cats and dogs can be more sensitive to scented products than humans. We recommend burning candles in rooms where pets are not present. If your pet shows any signs of discomfort, extinguish the candle immediately and ensure fresh air circulation.
We use premium cosmetic-grade fragrance oils that are fully IFRA (International Fragrance Association) compliant and free from phthalates and other restricted substances. All fragrance loads are carefully tested for safe use in soy wax candles and wax melts. Full ingredient information is available on request - contact us at info@fainecandle.com.
Wax Melts
Break off 1-2 cubes and place them in the dish of an electric or tea-light wax melt burner. The gentle heat releases the fragrance without an open flame. Each cube provides approximately 8-10 hours of scent. When the fragrance fades, let the wax cool and solidify, flex the dish to release it, then add fresh cubes.
Yes - blending scents is one of the great joys of wax melts. Try pairing complementary fragrances such as Lavender with French Vanilla, or Lemon with Sage. Start with one cube of each and adjust the ratio to your preference. Allow the previous scent to cool and set fully before switching to a completely new combination.
Yes, completely normal. Fragrance oils are released gradually over multiple heating sessions, so the scent will become lighter as the fragrance depletes. When you can no longer detect a scent even when the wax is warm, it’s time to replace the cubes. The wax itself does not evaporate - always remove and discard the old wax before adding fresh ones.
